I was writing my story for the Time is Eternity Daily Dose over at Dreamspinner and it got me thinking about time travel in popular culture. I’m a HUGE movie/pop culture junky, and I started wondering- What happened to all the great time travel movies?
I loved the Back to the Future movies. Even the third one which was arguably the worst. Bill and Ted? The best thing Keanu Reeves ever did. (My opinion, settle down Matrix junkies.) Sure, they weren’t Shakespeare, or even particularly scientifically sound, but they were damn entertaining. And possibly the best example of time travel entertainment is also the longest lived, Doctor Who.
All of these were influential in the story I created.
So I want to hear from you. What is your favorite example of pop culture time travel? Movie, tv show, comic book- it doesn’t matter, just reply to this post with your answer and I’ll randomly choose someone to recieve a free e-book of my time travel story, Hedgehogs Are Everywhen. Be sure to include your name and email so I can send the file if you win. Check out the blurb and hopefully check out the story as well (Even if you don’t win it!)
Blurb: Terry is grieving the loss of his former lover, Dante, when an enigmatic and very attractive stranger named the Professor drags him into an Airstream trailer/time machine. Together with his trusty hedgehog companion, Thigden, the Professor sets out to show Terry a vision of his future with a rakishly handsome pirate. Terry doesn’t expect an intergalactic space cruise, ginger snaps, or an attack for something he hasn’t even done yet, but one thing is certain: when it comes to time travel, romance is never truly dead.
